A Missing Scenes Fic
Summary: Set at Crater Lake after the events
in Sneeze.
“Chloe,”
said Clark, having screwed up the courage to finally talk about what had been
at the back of his mind since he was last at the Daily Planet. “Before I
left, there was this moment that we um…”
“You
mean when I laid one on you?”
He
shrugged, a little shyly. God, he was such a putz when it came to women,
especially Chloe.
“Don’t
worry, Clark, it was the end of the world. It’s not like I’m expecting us to
hook up.”
He
searched her eyes, and her forced smile. She was trying to let him off the
hook, because she was afraid he didn’t want to be on the hook. She
couldn’t be more wrong, but he just didn’t know what to say to the woman who’d
been his best friend for so long, and his secret keeper for the past year and a
half.
But
then, what if Chloe meant what she said? What if it had been nothing
more to her than an end-of-the-world thing? What if she liked being ‘just
friends,’ and he’d misconstrued how she really felt about him? She’d waited on
him for years. Did he really have the right to just walk back into her life now
and expect her to have him, just because it was what he wanted?
“Um…yeah…me…me
neither…”
“Hey,
Bright Eyes.”
Clark
looked away from Chloe to a young man who approached. He was obviously a Planet
employee. He was carrying a folder, and had a camera strapped to his neck, and
he was grinning at Chloe. What did he mean by calling her Bright Eyes?
“Oh,
bad time?” he asked, sensing something between him and Chloe.
“Oh,
no, um…I was just talking to a friend,” said Chloe, looking at him as though to
confirm that that’s all they were. What kind of answer did she want? Clark knew
what she expected, but what did she actually want? He said nothing, and looked
back at the newcomer.
“Whoa!
Grow ‘em big in Kansas, don’t they?” the new guy said.
Clark
decided right then he didn’t think he was going to like this guy very much.
“I’m
sorry. Jimmy Olsen, this is Clark Kent.”
“Actually
it’s uh, James Olsen,” Jimmy said, offering his hand. Clark noticed the
amused look Chloe gave him.
“Really?
Since when?”
Okay,
something was up. Clark looked between Chloe and this James Olsen person,
wondering what the connection was between them. She obviously knew him, and
knew him well. The skinny jerk was trying to be territorial with Chloe.
“Since
now-ish,” Jimmy clarified.
Chloe
laughed, amused, but Clark looked expectantly at her. He was seriously
considering pulling her to the side and demanding to know who ‘James
Olsen actually’ really was, but James clarified for him.
“You
wanna grab some dinner at the vending machine?”
Chloe
laughed. “Love to, James.” She looked back at Clark, as though James
had made her forget he was standing there. “Uh, Clark, are you hungry?”
James
gave him a look that clearly said ‘You’re not invited.’
“Me?
No, I’m okay. You guys go ahead.”
Jimmy
looked appeased. “Catch you later, CK.”
Clark
watched Jimmy and Chloe walk away together, and he felt as though he were
losing something vital to his life. To his heart.
****
“This
water is definitely too cold to swim in,” Chloe said. She and Clark had decided
to come out to the lake since he’d managed to use his newest ability to clear
the clouds from the sky. However, that had done nothing to warm the water to
human tolerance levels. “At least it is for me,” she clarified.
“Then
you can sit on the pier while I take a quick dip.”
Clark
pulled off the white tee-shirt he was wearing, kicked off his sandals, and ran
for the lake. He jumped, diving gracefully into the water, where he stayed down
much longer than humanly possible. Chloe wasn’t worried. She splashed her toes
over the cold water and admired the beauty of the lake.
After
almost ten minutes, however, she looked down into the water at her feet and
jumped when she saw Clark was there, looking up at her from a foot or so below
the surface. It was an incredibly creepy sight, and she quickly yanked her feet
up onto the pier (though she knew he could have moved fast enough to catch her
fee if he’d wanted to). He exploded out of the lake, landing on the pier next
to her, splashing her with icy water.
“Clark!”
“You
looked so spooked,” he said, wiping at his face and looking at her.
“I
was spooked. How long were you down there, looking at me?”
“Only
a few seconds, I promise. You looked down so fast, I though you saw me coming.
I was thinking of pulling you in. The water’s not so bad once you get used to
it.”
“Clark,
you could say that if the water were literally boiling, or slushy with ice. It
makes no difference to you. I just dipped my toes in and they’re already
frozen.”
“Here,”
he said, motioning for her to put her feet into his lap. She did so, and he
focused on them. Seconds later, they were pleasantly toasty—and dry.
“Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
He looked up at the sky as a raindrop hit her leg. “Here comes the rain. Want
me to clear it away?”
She
looked at him for a bit, quiet and contemplative before saying, “No. Let nature
take its course,” she said.
Those
words sounded loaded to Clark. Inviting. He nodded and hoped he wasn’t reading
too much into them.
“We’ll
eat back at the loft.”
He
pulled Chloe to her feet and then moved into super speed, putting all of their
things into the back of the old truck, including the kite they hadn’t had time
to fly. Chloe climbed into the cab beside Clark as it began to rain in earnest.
Clark put the key in the ignition—and nothing happened.
Chloe
began to laugh. “Great, we’re broken down.”
“Damn
old truck,” Clark groused. His cheeks were slightly flushed, and Chloe realized
he was a little embarrassed. Clark had always been a little self-conscious
about not having a lot of money like other people. Like her.
“It’s
okay, Clark,” Chloe said. “We’ll wait till it stops raining and then check it.
We’re hardly helpless, considering you’re super human.”
“Still…”
he said, letting go of the key. “It’s the starter. Again.”
“Look.”
“What?”
Chloe
nodded at the lake, hoping to take his mind off this little embarrassment. “The
rain on the lake. It’s beautiful.”
“Yeah.”
“Clark,
you don’t have to be embarrassed about the truck. You know you don’t have to
impress me.”
“I
know,” said Clark, a little too quickly, a little too chipper. “I’ll bet James
drives a new car.”
“It’s
Jimmy, and he rides a scooter.”
Clark
snorted. “You’re joking, right?”
“He
has an old car for longer trips, but mostly he gets around on foot or on a
scooter.”
“How
do you know him, anyway?”
Chloe
hugged herself. The air was definitely getting chilly. Clark reached around
behind him and pulled their picnic blanket out, throwing it over her.
“Better?”
“Much,
thank you.”
“So?”
he said, after a few moments of silently watching the rain on the lake. The
darkness was gathering with a vengeance, as though the clouds were getting back
at Clark for blowing them away earlier that afternoon. “How do you know Jimmy?”
“He
and I went out a couple of yeas ago, when I interned at the Planet.”
“Really?
I didn’t know you’d had a boyfriend then. You never told me.”
“I
don't tell you everything, that's true. And boyfriend isn’t exactly what he
was. He was more of a first time fling.”
She
heard Clark swallow. “First time?”
“Yeah,
you know. First lover kind of thing.”
“He
was your first?”
“Uh-huh,”
she said lightly, trying to make it sound as though it was nothing, but she
couldn’t help but notice the glass on Clark’s side of the truck was fogging
over, and his face was pinched. “He showed an interest in me when I really
needed it. He made me feel beautiful, and desirable, when I felt…well…the
opposite of those things.”
Clark
knew what Chloe was telling him. Jimmy had wanted her when he’d been wrapped up
in chasing after Lana Lang. He’d been willing to acknowledge her beauty in a
way Clark hadn’t—at that time—when Clark had decided to choose Lana over Chloe.
“So,
you’re not a virgin.”
Chloe
laughed. “That surprises you?”
“I
just didn’t think you’d lose it before I did, that’s all.”
“Why
would you think that?”
“I
don’t know. I just…I kind of thought you’d…”
“Wait?”
she asked.
“No,”
replied Clark, as though that wasn’t what he’d been trying to say at all, when
in fact it was. “No,” he repeated.
“You
did! You thought I’d stay a virgin until what…you decided to take an interest?”
Anger
tinted her words, like the blue strip at the top of the windshield. Lightly,
but definitely noticeable. The thing was, now that she’d voiced it, Clark
realized that’s exactly what he’d assumed she’d do. Wait until he possibly
decided that maybe someday he’d take an interest in her. How arrogant,
he realized.
“Maybe.”
Chloe
made a noise of disgust and turned back to the lake. It was barely visible now,
and the cab of the truck was totally silent except for the sound of the rain
pounding the metal roof.
“I’m
sorry,” said Clark, quietly. “I guess I got so used to you being so devoted to
me that I thought you’d wait until I was ready. That was very selfish of me,
Chloe.”
She
looked over at him, her anger melting. She nodded. “Thanks, Clark.”
“He
obviously still likes you.”
“I
don’t like him. Not like that. I made that clear yesterday.”
“Really?”
said Clark, in a thick voice.
Chloe
nodded. “Yeah. You know…he’s nice and everything, but I don’t love him. I never
could. He’s not…”
She
looked back out of the window. It was almost pitch black, since the moon and
stars were obscured by storm clouds. Pretty soon, she wouldn’t be able to see
Clark at all.
“He’s
not what?” Clark asked. He shifted beside Chloe. She got one good look at him
before the light faded.
“He’s
not you.”
Clark
moved beside Chloe, fiddling around in the glove compartment. He brought out a
flashlight and sat it on the dash, away from her, so that there was some light
inside the truck cab.
“I
thought you didn’t want to hook up,” he said.
“I
was giving you the chance to get off the hook, and you took it,” said Chloe.
She sounded disappointed.
“Only
because I thought you wanted me to. I thought you wanted to be with Jimmy.”
“No.”
“Chloe…”
The
flashlight flickered and went out. “Damn,” he said. “Everything I have is
useless.”
“Not
true.”
Chloe
pushed the blanket away, scooting over to him. She was feeling very warm
because Clark exuded heat. “You have integrity, honor, an infallible sense of
loyalty to friends. All of that means so much more than things you could buy
with money. Not to mention you’re smokin’ hot.”
She
gasped as one of his big hands reached out for her, grazing her breast. He didn’t
apologize. Instead, he moved it around and behind her waist, pulling her close
to him. His lips found hers unerringly, kissing her softly even as his hands
moved over her body, exploring her with firm confidence.
Chloe
moaned as their tongues touched for the first time since they’d made out while
he’d been high on red kryptonite. Clark tasted good, like the mint chocolates
he’d eaten on the way to the lake. He smelled good, too, of masculine musk. His
hands were impossibly big and strong, and she felt liquid heat soaking into her
panties.
“Oh,
Chloe,” he sighed. There was such raw, animal lust in Clark’s voice that her
thighs quivered in response. “I want you,” he whispered.
She
could feel it when she brought one knee up and it gently touched his erection,
which strained hard at his jeans. She wore the flimsiest of shifts, which Clark
pushed roughly out of the way. His hands were soft, never developing callouses
since he was invincible, yet they were undoubtedly manly.
“I
want you too, Clark. I’ve always wanted you.
“You
know we can’t, though. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“We
could try,” said Chloe. She kissed him again, brushing her lips lightly over
his, and moving along his strong jaw line. He leaned into her, too heavy for
her to hold up, so she sank back onto the seat, the old leather creaking as
they moved. Chloe’s legs parted to give Clark a place to lie down, and his cock
ground up against her throbbing clit, making her cry out as an almost painful
spasm of pleasure clinched deep inside of her.
“I’m
sorry, Chloe, I didn’t mean to—” Clark began, sounding alarmed.
“Do
it again!” Chloe gasped. “Please, Clark, please, again…again…” Chloe begged,
trying to lift her hips to meet his. He gently lowered himself over her again,
torturing her with the slightest friction. She growled.
“Harder,
Clark.”
Fearfully,
Clark increased the pressure. She tried to pull him into her by wrapping her
legs around his waist, and he slowly gave in, and settled into a torturous
rhythm that would have felt so much better if his cock were inside of her. She
was still moaning like he was full on fucking her, because it felt so good.
Clark’s
lips found Chloe’s neck, and his fingers sought out the soft, moist folds of
her womanhood. His jeans, which were stained with her juices, moved away from
her as he ripped her soaking wet panties away like tissue paper. He pushed one
finger gently inside of her.
“Please.
I need you.”
He
added his index and ring finger to the middle finger already inside of her, but
Chloe pulled at his zipper, and deftly unbuttoned his jeans, freeing his
erection. Clark froze at once.
“Chloe,
you know I can’t. That’s the one thing I can’t do.”
“You’re
afraid you’ll thrust too hard?”
“Yes.”
“Sit
up. Go on, sit up,” she said breathlessly.
It
was awkward, but eventually Clark was sitting up, away from the steering wheel,
and Chloe straddled his lap.
“I
wish I could see you,” she said.
“Chloe,
even with you on top, I could still lose control—”
“Shhh…”
she said, kissing him. She grasped his cock in her left hand, while her right
hand found his balls. Clark moaned.
“Oh,
Chloe… Don’t make me do something I’ll regret. I don’t want to hurt you.”
He
was the strongest person on the planet Earth, and yet he was totally at her
mercy, begging her not to make him do something that he was afraid to try. That
made Chloe ache with more than physical desire, but with hurt, and pity.
“I
won’t, Clark. You can trust me. I just want to please you.”
The
truck was too cramped for her to maneuver herself around so she could get
Clark’s cock into her mouth, so she settled for slicking her hand with her own
juices, and then stroking his long, thick shaft. Clark settled back and became
lost in her touch, his breath puffing out hot and fast into her face, smelling
like a mixture of toothpaste and chocolate mints that made her want to kiss him
again.
She
worked him relentlessly, until his hands grabbed her hips, almost painfully
tight, and his hips jerked almost convulsively. Clark moaned loudly, his
orgasms releasing long, thick streams of cum onto her chest, under her chin,
and against her belly. Chloe found herself moaning with him, enjoying the feel
of his hot release on her skin, and the smell of it filling the cab. She
collapsed against Clark; they struggled to catch their breath.
“You
see your hands,” Chloe said.
“Actually
yeah, I can,” said Clark weakly.
“You
were lost in the moment, and you still controlled yourself. You could have
crushed my legs, but you didn’t. You were in control.”
Chloe’s
lips brushed against Clark’s neck.
His
strong arms wrapped around Chloe as she curled up on the seat next to him.
Minutes later, they were both asleep.
